Child Therapy
My name is Tammie Elkins and I have dedicated my life to serving children and their families. In 1987, I graduated from Middle TN State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. For 20 years I taught in Murfreesboro City Schools. It was through my teaching experiences that I realized I could help families in a deeper way. In 2013, I went back to school and earned a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy,
I help children deal with many issues including problematic behavior, anxiety, school performance, trauma, grief, attention difficulties, and family relationships. I never use a cookie cutter approach or put a quick label on a child. Instead, I look at each child as a vibrant, multifaceted human being. I am also a mother and I get how important it is to look at the whole picture. If I get the pleasure of seeing your child we may draw pictures, play a game, play with other small toys or use puppets to help get the conversation going and get therapeutic needs met.
My goal will be to get to know your child and your family. I will also involve any other people (teachers, guidance counselors, etc.) if it means helping your child get the care and attention they need.
